The Indigenous Peoples Affairs Bureau of Taoyuan City Government is holding the "Public Selection Plan for the Fourth Term Members of the Taoyuan City Government Indigenous Peoples Development Committee." Recommendations or self-recommendations will be accepted from May 13, 114 (2025) to May 27, 114 (2025).
Details:
1. In accordance with Article 3 of the Establishment Guidelines for the Taoyuan City Government Indigenous Peoples Development Committee.
2. The selection plan is summarized as follows:
(1) Number of committee members and term of office:
1. Fourteen to eighteen representatives from various indigenous ethnic groups, with one representative per ethnic group in principle, who hold indigenous status and are preferably registered residents of this city.
2. Three to five experts and scholars, of whom at least two must have indigenous status.
3. The proportion of either gender among the committee members mentioned in the preceding paragraph shall not be less than 40%.
4. The committee members mentioned in the preceding paragraph shall serve on a voluntary basis, with a term of office of two years. If a vacancy occurs and the remaining term is one year or more, the Indigenous Peoples Affairs Bureau of Taoyuan City Government may conduct a public selection in accordance with this plan, and the term of office shall be until the expiration of the original term.
(2) Qualifications for committee candidates:
1. Representatives of ethnic groups:
(1) Must have indigenous status.
(2) Must be registered residents of this city. However, if there are no recommended candidates from any ethnic group in this city, the residency requirement may be waived.
(3) Must be enthusiastic about serving their ethnic group or have a distinguished reputation for profound knowledge of indigenous affairs.
2. Experts and scholars representatives:
(1) Indigenous status is not required.
(2) Residency in this city is not required.
(3) Must possess expertise in areas such as indigenous policy planning, industrial development, education and culture, social welfare, public construction, and land resource utilization and management, and have published specialized works or relevant creative pieces that have received considerable acclaim.
(3) Methods for recommending committee candidates:
1. Recommendation by government agencies.
2. Recommendation by elected officials.
3. Recommendation by indigenous individuals, groups, or companies.
4. Self-recommendation.
(4) Selection process:
1. Announcement and recommendation period: 15 days from the date of announcement. Please complete the recommendation form and submit it in person or by mail to the Indigenous Peoples Affairs Bureau of Taoyuan City Government (6th Floor, No. 1, County Hall Road, Taoyuan District, Taoyuan City) by 5:00 PM on May 27, 114 (2025). The postmark or the official receipt stamp of the Indigenous Peoples Affairs Bureau of Taoyuan City Government will be considered as proof of submission.
2. During the announcement period, the Indigenous Peoples Affairs Bureau of Taoyuan City Government may visit local elected officials and various bureaus and departments of the city government to collect relevant opinions, solicit suitable candidates, understand their willingness to participate, listen to their future visions, and invite them to participate in the selection process, depending on the recommendation situation.
