| II. | The methods for schools to shorten the study duration for gifted students include five categories: exemption from courses (learning domains), acceleration in some subjects (learning domains), acceleration in all subjects (learning domains), grade skipping in some subjects (learning domains), and grade skipping in all subjects (learning domains). |
| The implementation process for shortening the study duration in this case is as follows: |
| (1) | Students, parents, guardians, homeroom teachers, or subject teachers can self-recommend or recommend students with outstanding academic performance in specific subjects to the school. Applications should be submitted to the school by November 30th for the first semester and by April 20th for the second semester, with the consent of the student's parents or guardians. |
| (2) | For applications to exempt courses, accelerate in some subjects, or accelerate in all subjects: After being reviewed and approved by the school's Special Education Promotion Committee (特推會), the school should submit a report to the Bureau by December 15th for the first semester and by May 5th for the second semester. The report should include the school's implementation plan for shortening study duration for gifted students, the learning support plan, the minutes of the Special Education Promotion Committee meeting, and identification materials for the Bureau's record and processing. |
| (3) | For applications for grade skipping in some subjects or grade skipping in all subjects: After being reviewed and approved by the school's Special Education Promotion Committee (特推會), the school should submit a report to the Bureau by December 15th for the first semester and by May 5th for the second semester. The report should include the school's implementation plan for shortening study duration for gifted students, the learning support plan, the minutes of the Special Education Promotion Committee meeting, and identification materials. This report will then be submitted to the City's Special Education Student Identification and Guidance Committee for review and approval, and then to the Bureau for final approval before implementation. |
| V. | To assist schools in preparing student learning support plans, in accordance with the "Key Points for the Implementation of Shortening Study Duration for Gifted Students in Senior Secondary and Below Schools in this City," the sample application and learning support plan form for shortening study duration for gifted students in this City has been revised and is attached. Schools are requested to follow the aforementioned form for application matters. |
