| I. | In accordance with the letter from the Ocean Affairs Council dated November 17, 2023, reference number 11200119642. |
| II. | To respond to the "United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development" and encourage young students to participate in ocean conservation, care about ocean issues, and use ocean science to overcome ocean crises and challenges, while also promoting international exchange and interaction, the Ocean Affairs Council, in collaboration with the American Institute in Taiwan, Kaohsiung Branch (AIT/K), is organizing the "2024 Taiwan Ocean International Youth Forum" to deepen international ocean education and promote the development of ocean science research. |
| III. | This event requires participating teams to propose action plans to solve crises using ocean science methods. Action plans can integrate innovative thinking in ocean science, field investigations, ecological conservation, net-zero carbon emissions, creative marketing, cultural preservation and maintenance, etc., to stimulate civic awareness, citizen participation, and local regeneration among local residents, and to mobilize citizen action. |
| IV. | This event welcomes currently enrolled students or social members aged 12 to 40 to register. Teams should consist of 2 to 8 members, and mixed-age, cross-school teams are welcome. Participating teams must present and answer questions in English. The top three winning teams in each group will be awarded prize money ranging from NT$10,000 to NT$30,000. Additionally, a special award will be selected, with prize money ranging from NT$50,000 to NT$100,000 provided by the Ocean Affairs Council. |
