Description:

I. In accordance with the Ministry of Education, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's letter No. 1080053923 dated May 14, 2019.

II. Matters related to the selection of new team members are detailed in the brochure (Attachment 1), with the following highlights:

(I) Eligibility: Teachers must be currently qualified teachers in elementary or junior high schools, with at least five years of teaching experience as a qualified teacher, and at least three years of experience as a part-time counselor in a municipal/county/city counseling group or at least two years of experience as a full-time counselor in a municipal/county/city counseling group. For those with special qualifications (e.g., Power Teacher) or conditions, the years of service in a municipal/county/city counseling group may be reduced.

(II) Units that may recommend central team teachers to the Department:

1. Municipal/County/City Education Bureaus.

2. The Department's counseling groups for various learning domains/groups/issues.

3. Current central team teachers.

(III) Selection Criteria:

1. Professional competence for serving as a central team teacher (understanding and interpretation of educational policies, problem awareness and diagnostic skills, teaching supervision and evaluation skills, teaching innovation and research skills, organizational management and leadership skills, etc.).

2. Specialized subject area competence (subject knowledge, familiarity with curriculum design and teaching materials, teaching methods, etc.).

3. Personal qualities (enthusiasm for service, willingness to engage with people, good communication skills, reflective, rational thinking, and teamwork, etc.).

III. Recommendation Method:

(I) Recommendation period: From now until May 20, 2019 (Monday). All recommendations must be submitted by mail (postmark as proof).

(II) The Department will conduct an initial review to determine if the individuals recommended by each unit meet the basic qualifications. The results and subsequent selection matters will be announced on the "Ministry of Education National Elementary and Junior High School Curriculum and Teaching Resources Integration Platform CIRN" (hereinafter referred to as CIRN) before May 22, 2019 (Wednesday).

IV. Important Schedule for Selection Process:

(I) Selection Date: May 24, 2019 (Friday) at Conference Room 18, 18th Floor, South Tower, Joint Office Building (No. 5, Xuzhou Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City).

(II) Announcement Date of Selection Results: The list of selected and reserve candidates will be announced on CIRN before June 6, 2019 (Thursday), and the official list of admitted candidates will be notified by letter after June 10.

V. To prevent teachers' participation in central team affairs from affecting school matters, please communicate with your service school before applying. Apply only after obtaining the principal's consent and confirmation that you may be exempted from homeroom teacher duties during the service academic year.

VI. The Department will appoint central team teachers based on the selection results and issue appointment letters. The appointment period is generally one academic year. The Department may extend the appointment based on the performance of each central team teacher, with each extension being for one academic year. Furthermore, for outstanding performance by central team teachers during their service, their respective school principals will also receive commendations.

VII. The initial team meeting for the 2019 academic year will be held from August 5 (Monday) to August 9 (Friday) at the Sanxia Campus of the National Academy for Educational Research. New central team members must attend the entire meeting; otherwise, they will not be appointed.
