For your information, the National Academy of Governance is organizing the 2019 Public Official Essay Writing and Reading Promotion Competition. We encourage colleagues to participate actively. If you are interested in participating, please submit your work to the Human Resources Office by May 15, 2019, so that it can be reviewed and submitted to the Taoyuan City Government Human Resources Department.

Details:

1. In accordance with the National Academy of Governance's official letter dated January 9, 2019, No. 1080800005.

2. The original letter (including attachments) is attached as a copy.

3. The essay writing competition will use "One Book a Month and Recommended Classics of the Year" as the

designated reading list (a total of 14 books). The books are divided into "Public Policy and Management Knowl-

edge," "Self-Development and Humanistic Care," and "Recommended Classics of the Year" for evaluation. In addition, the National Academy of Governance has revised the "Public Official Book Reading Promotion Activity

Plan" and the "Public Official Book Reading Essay Writing and Reading Promotion Competition Act-

ivity Regulations." The main points of the revision are as follows:

a. Added the Bronze Award for essay writing and adjusted the number of honorable mentions.

b. To uphold academic integrity, it is stipulated that any plagiarism discovered will result in the disqualification of the awardee, and the prize money and trophy will be revoked.

b. To clarify the scoring criteria for outstanding agencies, an explanation of the scoring standards for the completeness of submitted materials has been added.

4. The National Academy of Governance has selected 14 books for the 2019 "One Book a Month" and "Recommended Classics of the Year" (designated reading list for the essay competition), and 12 books for extended reading. Publishers are also offering a discounted book purchase program for public officials (7.1% off). The offer is valid until December 31, 2019.
