The 12-year compulsory education new curriculum will be officially implemented on August 1st of this year (108). The new curriculum is based on the spirit of "holistic education" guided by "core competencies." Through the concepts of "self-initiation," "interaction," and "co-prosperity," it guides students to properly develop various interactive abilities with themselves, others, society, and nature, thereby becoming self-motivated learners. In the design of the new curriculum, school education is no longer limited to academic knowledge as the sole scope of learning. Instead, it emphasizes learners' ability to apply what they have learned in real-life situations. We encourage students to do things hands-on, giving them more opportunities for exploration and practical application, and allowing them to choose interest-based learning clubs, skill activities, etc., to develop self-directed learning abilities. We are also actively expanding students' learning spaces beyond the classroom. Therefore, during the summer vacation, it is advisable to encourage children to explore and learn through outdoor education and experiential educational activities and exhibitions organized by various social education institutions.
To help children receive better safety care, relevant laws and regulations concerning children's rights and interests have also been gradually amended recently. In terms of family care, family education is indispensable for children's healthy growth. As the saying goes, "The source of education lies in the family." We have amended the "Family Education Act" to strengthen the functions of family education centers. We will also cooperate with student counseling and social welfare systems to proactively provide assistance to children in need. We hope to integrate resources from the central and local governments, schools, and communities to jointly create a more comprehensive and friendly family and social network, so that every child can achieve sound physical and mental development and assist parents in creating a good growth environment for their children.
During the summer vacation, in addition to encouraging children to seize the opportunity to learn outdoors and broaden their horizons, please also pay attention to your child's daily routine and arrangements at home, avoid excessive internet use, and remind your child to pay attention to safety when engaging in indoor and outdoor activities. Let this summer be safe and healthy. We wish you and your child a beautiful, happy, and fulfilling holiday life this summer.
