Description:

I. In response to the "Animal Protection Act" passed by the Legislative Yuan in December 2018, which stipulates that governments at all levels should popularize education related to animal ethics and animal protection laws, and implement it into the 12-year basic education curriculum, this association will hold a "Teacher Empowerment - Anti-Bullying Animals Workshop" on September 21-22 (Saturday and Sunday).

II. The third phase of the training course content includes: animal ethics, special topics on anti-bullying animals, observation and assessment of captive animal welfare, and practical observation and discussion at the Taipei Zoo. We hope to work with teachers to construct outdoor teaching courses on how to guide students from an animal rights perspective, use animal welfare observation and assessment forms to understand the environment and behavior of captive animals, and thus inspire students' empathy and care for the plight of animals.

III. Dr. Long Yuan-Chih and Dr. Chen Mei-Ting, Chairperson of the Formosan Pangolin Conservation Association, have been invited as special guest speakers. On the second day, Dr. Chen Mei-Ting and Dr. Hsiao Jen-Hsuan, who researches chimpanzees, will lead participating teachers and their children in observing the behavior and environment of captive animals during an outdoor zoo field trip. Through two days of empowerment, we aim to generate anti-bullying animal lesson plans through brainstorming, sensory experiences, and exploratory guidance.

IV. This workshop, titled "Animal Protection Education Rooting Project - Third Phase 2019 Anti-Bullying Animals Teacher Empowerment and Lesson Plan Design Workshop," will be held on September 21-22, 2019 (Saturday and Sunday) in the S107 Audiovisual Classroom of the Science Building at the University of Taipei.
