Regarding matters related to the acceleration of gifted students in the first semester of the 109th academic year in this city.

III. Schools shall establish a working group for gifted education in accordance with the "Implementation Guidelines for Shortening the Study Period for Gifted Students in Senior Secondary Schools and Below in Taoyuan City" to formulate an implementation plan for shortening the study period for gifted students, and convene the Special Education Promotion Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Committee") for review and approval, which shall serve as the basis for identification.

II. The methods for schools to shorten the study period for gifted students include five categories: exemption from courses, acceleration in some subjects, acceleration in all subjects, grade skipping in some subjects, and grade skipping in all subjects.

 

IV. The implementation process for shortening the study period in this case is as follows:

(1)

Students, parents, guardians, homeroom teachers, or subject teachers may self-recommend or recommend students with outstanding academic performance to the school for subjects. Applications should be submitted to the school by October 15th for the first semester and by February 25th for the second semester, after the student obtains consent from their parents or guardians.

(2) Application for exemption from courses, acceleration in some subjects, or acceleration in all subjects: After review and approval by the school's Committee, the school shall report to the Bureau for record by December 15th for the first semester and by May 15th for the second semester, along with the implementation plan for shortening the study period for gifted students formulated by the school, the learning support plan, the meeting minutes of the Committee, and identification materials.
(3) Application for grade skipping in some subjects or grade skipping in all subjects: After review and approval by the school's Committee, the school shall report to the Bureau by December 15th for the first semester and by May 15th for the second semester, along with the implementation plan for shortening the study period for gifted students formulated by the school, the learning support plan, the meeting minutes of the Committee, and identification materials. The application will be implemented after review and approval by the City's Special Education Student Identification and Guidance Committee and approval by the Bureau.
