The Civil Service Development Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) has suspended the 2021 "Civil Servant Book Report Writing and Reading Promotion Excellence Award" event in response to the "Severe Pneumonia with Novel Pathogens (COVID-19)" epidemic.

Explanation:
1. In accordance with the Institute's official letter No. 1100800081 dated June 10, 2021, with a copy of the original letter attached. Additionally, the Taoyuan City Government's official letter No. 1090333007 dated December 22, 2020, has been received.

2. The Institute considers that various competent authorities have successively received or completed the submission of reports from their personnel. However, in response to the nationwide Level 3 alert during the epidemic, to avoid unnecessary gatherings and personnel movement, and at a time when the entire nation is focused on epidemic prevention, agencies are facing severe manpower shortages for epidemic control. Therefore, it is not advisable to increase the burden on agencies. The event will be canceled or adjusted as follows:
(1) Subsequent activities related to the competition, including the submission and review of book reports, and reading promotion and guidance sessions, will be suspended.
(2) "Civil Servant Book Report Writing Competition" entries that have already been received or reviewed by competent authorities will be retained and submitted online between June 1 and June 30, 2022, after the epidemic situation has eased.
(3) To reduce the risk of cluster infections, the 2021 Reading Promotion Excellence Award event will be canceled.

3. Regarding the 2021 book report writing, the Taoyuan City Government has completed the collection of submissions, which will be retained for submission in 2022.
