110th academic year North, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu regions junior and senior high school English storytelling recording competition

Subject: Our university's Department of Applied Foreign Languages and the Foreign Language Center are organizing the "110th Academic Year Northern, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu Regions Junior and Senior High School English Storytelling Recording Competition." We welcome students from junior and senior high schools in the Northern, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu regions nationwide to participate. We kindly request that all schools assist in disseminating this information. Please acknowledge receipt.
Details:  
I. Objectives: To enhance students' interest in learning English, strengthen their English speaking and expression skills, cultivate teamwork, and foster inter-regional school cooperation for mutual learning and observation, this competition is hereby organized.
II. Organizer: Department of Applied Foreign Languages, University of Kang Ning (Taipei Campus).
III. Co-organizer: Foreign Language Center, University of Kang Ning (Taipei Campus).
IV. Eligibility
(1) Junior High School Group: Currently enrolled students from junior high schools in the Northern, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu regions.
(2) Senior High School Group: Currently enrolled students in grades 1-3 from senior high schools, vocational high schools, and technical colleges in the Northern, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu regions.
(3) Each participating student must not have resided continuously in an English-speaking country for more than one year after the age of 6, nor have studied in an overseas Chinese school in Europe or America for more than one year.
   
V. Competition Rules and Notes
(1) Each school is limited to one team per group for the competition.
(2) Each team shall consist of 2-4 members (one person can play multiple roles). Each student can only register for one team from their school and cannot participate in multiple teams.
(3) Cross-school team formation is not permitted.
(4) Participating teams shall select and record an English story (Junior High School Group: 3-4 minutes; Senior High School Group: 4-5 minutes). The recording shall be submitted to our university for the competition. The content of the submitted work,
content, and dialogue must not be offensive to good morals, nor should the language be vulgar, crude, or involve personal attacks.
   
VI. Registration Method: Please complete the following registration procedures by December 29, 2021.
(1) Fill out the registration form and email it along with the story text file and the competition recording file (filename format: School Name/Grade/Story Title, e.g., University of Kang Ning Taipei Campus_2nd Year Vocational_Cinderella) to yaobj@ukn.edu.tw and ckwtth@ukn.edu.tw.
(2) Please create the competition recording file in MP3 format.
(3) The organizer will send an email confirmation upon receiving the submitted work.
   
VII. Judging Criteria and Announcement of Results
(1) The judging will be based on the recordings submitted to the university's designated email address. The list of winners will be announced on the department's website in early March of the second semester of the 110th academic year.
(2) The organizer will invite professional judges from relevant fields. The judging criteria are as follows:
  1. English pronunciation and fluency of dialogue: 40%.
  2. Overall presentation effect of the story content: 40%.
  3. Background music and sound effects: 20%.
   
(3) In case of a tie in scores, the judges will make a final decision through discussion.
(4) An award ceremony will be held at our university on a date to be determined.
   
VIII. Awards for Each Group
(1) First Place: NT$1,200 or equivalent gift certificate, and a certificate of award.
(2) Second Place: NT$1,000 or equivalent gift certificate, and a certificate of award.
(3) Third Place: NT$800 or equivalent gift certificate, and a certificate of award.
(4) Two Honorable Mentions: Each will receive NT$500 or equivalent gift certificate, and a certificate of award.
  Note: The organizer reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of winners based on the quantity and quality of submitted works.
IX. Competition Details
(1) Submitted works found to be plagiarized or involving impersonation will be disqualified, and the participants will bear legal responsibility.
(2) The school name and student names must not be mentioned in the submitted recordings.
(3) The organizer reserves the right to publicly display, publish, and use the award-winning works for promotional purposes without additional compensation.
(4) In accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act, and for the purpose of showcasing the event's achievements and for final reporting, the organizer reserves the right to publicly disclose participants' school names, departments, names, and works in various event materials or to use them reasonably. All participants are deemed to have automatically agreed to these terms and conditions and shall not raise any objections, nor will separate consent forms be required.
