Regarding the case of students and faculty/staff of public and private schools (including kindergartens) in this city taking leave and class arrangements after contracting dengue fever, please refer to the explanation.
Explanation:
1. In accordance with the letter from the National Academy of Educational Administration, Ministry of Education, dated December 12, 112 (2023), Ref. No. Tai Jiao Guo Shu Ren Zi Di 1120175029, and the "Dengue Fever/Chikungunya Prevention and Control Guidelines" from the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare.
2. According to Article 38 of the Communicable Disease Control Act, personnel who are notified by the local competent authority and appear in person shall be granted official leave by their respective agencies (institutions), schools, groups, companies, or factories, as instructed by the competent authority.
3. Considering that dengue fever is a Category 2 statutory communicable disease, in order to maintain the consistency of dengue fever prevention and control and school management, the Taoyuan City Government Department of Education agrees to grant official leave to faculty and staff of public and private schools (including kindergartens) in this city in accordance with Article 38 of the Communicable Disease Control Act. The resulting class arrangements will be assisted by the school and handled as follows:
(1) One day of official leave and substitute teaching will be granted for participation in chemical control (spraying).
(2) Half a day of official leave and substitute teaching will be granted for participation in mandatory mosquito breeding site inspections.
4. Furthermore, according to the "Dengue Fever/Chikungunya Prevention and Control Guidelines" from the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare, the period of 5 days after the onset of symptoms of dengue fever is the "infectious period" (also known as the "viremic period"). If an infected person is bitten by a mosquito during this period, the mosquito can transmit dengue fever. Therefore, infected individuals should avoid going out as much as possible during this period. To strengthen campus epidemic prevention work, the arrangements for students and faculty/staff of public and private schools (including kindergartens) in this city taking leave and class arrangements after contracting dengue fever are as follows:
(1) Students: If confirmed with dengue fever and notified by the health unit, it is recommended that they rest at home for 5 days after the onset of symptoms and avoid coming to school. Flexible sick leave will be granted based on a doctor's certificate or screening certificate and will not be included in attendance records.
(2) Faculty and Staff: If confirmed with dengue fever and notified by the health unit, it is recommended that they rest at home for 5 days after the onset of symptoms and avoid coming to school. Sick leave will be granted based on a doctor's certificate or screening certificate, and the resulting class arrangements will be assisted by the school.
