Regarding the fact that teachers may take leave according to the Teacher Leave Regulations before their appointment, and how to grant leave after appointment, the Ministry of Education has amended the attached table with reference to the leave arrangements for civil servants, effective retroactively from August 1, 2022.
Explanation:
1. In accordance with the Ministry of Education's letter No. Tai Jiao Ren (San) Zi No. 1110089077 dated September 21, 2022.
2. The Ministry of Education's letter No. Tai Jiao Ren (San) Zi No. 1060000749A dated February 16, 2017, stipulated that with reference to the arrangements for civil servants who get married before reporting for duty and are appointed within the leave period stipulated by the Teacher Leave Regulations, leave shall be granted. This provision was relaxed to allow newly appointed teachers who register their marriage before appointment and are appointed within the period stipulated by the Teacher Leave Regulations to be granted the remaining number of marriage leave days, calculated from the date of marriage to the day before appointment (including holidays), based on the number of marriage leave days stipulated by the Teacher Leave Regulations. The Ministry further stipulated in its letter No. Tai Jiao Ren (San) Zi No. 1090150021 dated December 23, 2020, that teachers who experience marriage, childbirth, miscarriage, childbirth or miscarriage of spouse, or death of spouse or relative before appointment may be granted leave after appointment based on the number of leave days stipulated for each event, deducting the number of days from the date of the event to the day before appointment (including holidays), and granting the remaining leave days.
3. The Civil Service Protection and Training Commission's letter No. Gong Xun Zi No. 1100009030 dated September 27, 2021, stated that for civil servant examination candidates who experience childbirth, miscarriage, death of spouse or relative (including blood relatives and relatives by marriage), or marriage before reporting for duty and practical training, leave granted after reporting for duty and practical training shall be calculated by deducting the number of working days from the date of the event to the day before reporting for duty (excluding holidays), granting the remaining leave days during the practical training period, and then calculating the proportion based on the number of months of practical training to the entire year.
4. With reference to the aforementioned civil servant leave arrangements and considering the leave needs of teachers, the Ministry of Education has stipulated that from August 1, 2022, teachers who experience marriage, childbirth, miscarriage, childbirth or miscarriage of spouse, or death of spouse or relative before appointment may be granted leave after appointment based on the number of leave days stipulated for each event, deducting the number of days from the date of the event to the day before appointment (excluding holidays), and granting the remaining leave days.
5. Attached are copies of the original letter and the "Table of Explanations for Handling Leave for Teachers Who Experience Events Eligible for Leave According to Teacher Leave Regulations Before Appointment".
